Visualization of Time-dependent Data and its Evaluation

Heike Jaenicke

Time-dependent data occurs in many application areas and is often difficult to depict. In this talk, I will present visualization techniques for two quite different types of time-dependent data: a system to analyze climate variability change and a semantically-rich visual language for sound in movies. In many applications, however, it is not just important to get any visualization, but to make sure that the viewer gets the right information from it. Hence, the last section of the talk is dedicated to the question "Do you see what I want you to see?"
