Distributed Prograph

Hugh Glaser

(University of Southampton)

Prograph is a programming language and environment which is available on the Macintosh family of computers. The language uses a dataflow model of evaluation, and it provides class-based data abstraction with single inheritance. The system is entirely graphical, other than for the text of method names, and supports the program development process in a highly-interactive fashion.

The graphical nature of the language suggests that it should provide a good vehicle to exploit parallel and distributed systems.

Following a brief introduction to the Prograph system, this seminar will discuss some of the issues associated with using Prograph to describe distributed systems.
