Numerical solution of an engine knock model problem

The numerical solution of a combustion problem modelling knock in a car engine is considered. The solution techniques used combine unstructured mesh finite volume methods with error control in both space and time. The numerical results obtained are contrasted with results obtained using a more traditional approach. Extensions to parallel solution methods are considered.
